Can you use USA landline phones in the UK?

I've seen a VTech phone that I like, but it's only available in the US/Canada/Hong Kong. It's a 5.8 GHz digital phone - a cordless landline. (It incudes a digital answerphone and caller ID)

Are they compatible with the UK system (I'm assuming not). Or, is there an adapter of some sort?

Many thanks
Answers:

No, unless the phone has a feature which is designed to work in other countries. You will have to contact the company which sells the phone to be sure.
Ofcourse Yes, as long as they do not have batteries or power plug for the Answering Machine.

well, I had to replace s simple cord.
nope; 2 more pts for me.
No the line connector is wrong..and the supply voltage for the adapter will be incorrect.
Change jack plug and the voltage..is it really worth it.
